Okehampton's Party in the Park 9th July 2023
Together with Okehampton Town Council and Everything Okehampton, Miss Ivy Events is delighted to bring you not one but three great reasons to Party in the Park this summer.
Join us on Sunday 9th July in Okehampton’s glorious park where we’ll mark 400 years of the Town Charter, presented to Okehampton by King James I in 1623. We’re also marking 150 fabulous years of Okehampton United Charities, and 125 years of the Okehampton Hamlets parish with a high-spirited, family-friendly summer celebration like no other.
Roll out the bunting and gather your family, friends, loved ones and neighbours for a 10am start. We’re bringing the whole community together for a day of fun in the sun with fabulous shopping thanks to some 50 gift, craft and artisan stalls, sumptuous street food and drinks, and thrilling entertainment for the kids. Don’t forget to visit our special marquee where you’ll find a timeline and associated displays dedicated to 400 years of fascinating local history. The day will culminate with a glorious Music Festival bringing a thoroughly memorable event to a close at 8.30pm.
We’re working with local charity OCRA too. They will coordinate a host of activities including archery and wall-climbing. Or try your hand at traditional games; – can your team win the Tug-of-War, or maybe you’ll triumph over your neighbours in a Welly Wanging competition? For those with a more daring disposition how about challenging your friends to some Axe Throwing or see who can refine their Sword Skills the most?
As the afternoon draws to a close, we’ve invited local bands including The Wreckords and Code Red to entertain you from 5pm until the sun sets. Find a spot on the grass, spread out your blanket and enjoy the music as it brings a day of merriment and memory-making to a fitting close.
This fun, community focussed day out is entirely free of charge, and generously sponsored by Everything Okehampton.
